Due to the funding challenge we’ve had since 2020, some parts of our program operations ceased. Our primary school students (grade 1 to 5) were transferred to public school.
But here is our focus for 2022:
Preschool Education for 80 students
We focus on preschool programs because early childhood education is the basis of all education, and it is proven that it helps to prevent school dropouts later.
It prepares these students to settle in well to Khmer school when the time comes.
It can also allow their parents to find work to provide much needed income during this time that we have their children.
Vocational Training Support for 150 Young adults
Our students range in age from 15 (Year 9) who are studying at public schools or training colleges and universities.
These classes are held later in the day, around 4-6pm, allowing them to meet their other family and school commitments during the day.
To enhance their future employment opportunities our teenage students and young adults are taught English with a focus on phonics, public speaking, writing, reading and grammar.
They are also given access to computers which they couldn’t normally afford and taught a number of different computer applications.
All of our students receive free learning materials and where possible we also loan computers to our older students so that they can continue their studies when at home.
While we all take for granted our access to social media and the internet, these youths still find it hard to access computer classes and quality education. For some it is their first time in English and computer class while they start university to vocational training.
The programs that our school is able to offer are only possible due to your generous support.
All of our students come from low-income family backgrounds. They receive free education from New Hope Cambodia, including free learning materials.
